Ironically, although my family had very little contact with my fraudster, they are buying into her story. In other words, they find it very difficult to believe that someone could come to this country, have a baby, and then leave the relationship by falsely accusing the sponsor of abuse for the sole purpose of obtaining a greencard.

The lack of support of my family angers, frustrates, and at times weakens me.

This is not an unusual situation. Immigrant women sometimes conceive a child for the sole purpose of having an "anchor baby" and the benefits of 18 years of child support.

The USCIS is less likely to deport a mother with a USC child.

I am so thankful that my wife and I didn't have a child together. A child only makes this complicated situation much more complicated.

As for your lack of family support, I can only imagine how hard that is for you. You need to educate them as best you can. Give them the resources you have found. Show them that you are not an aberration. When they start to see how often this really happens, they should come around, and remember who you really are. Hopefully, they will start to support you, and stand by your side through this ordeal.

My wife tried to turn my mother and sister against me. She would email them a few times a week, and tell them what a bad husband and father(my son, her daughter) I was. She never accused me of abuse, but she definitely had them wondering what was happening with me. Of course, things would have been different if I had been honest with myself and my family when I saw things starting to go bad. I wanted to present an image of a happy family. When I realized what my wife was doing, I started talking to them more, and they realized she was distorting the truth. This distortion of the truth was one of the ways she was trying to get me to react. When I finally had enough, I surprised her by saying that we should end the marriage and have her go back to Russia. This caused her to have to make the abuse accusation sooner than she had planned. As hard as this situation has been, I am thankful that my family has stood beside me, and believed in who I am.
